The boys soccer team bounces back after their first loss of the season to Shawnee Mission North by defeating DeSoto at home. DeSoto and Leavenworth battled hard the entire night, but it was the Pioneers that emerged victorious. In the middle of the first half junior Colby Loghry continued his scoring streak and tallied another one on the season. Towards the end of the first half senior Trevor Hochard drew a penalty kick, which was converted by senior Nick Hawley. Midway through the second half Loghry scored his second goal of the contest, essentially putting the game out of reach. The Pioneers continued with an excellent defensive performance in the second half as they shut out DeSoto, giving senior Dylan Shaw his fourth shutout of the season. With the win the Pioneers improve to 5 – 1 on the season, remain unbeaten at home, and unbeaten in conference play. They look to continue the success Thursday night as they take on Basehor-Linwood.
