Leavenworth Pioneers Varsity lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat to Bonner Springs Braves Varsity on Saturday. Bonner Springs Braves Varsity was down 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Emily Ashford homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Leavenworth Pioneers Varsity opened up an early lead in the second inning when Alyssa Seichepine’s sac fly scored one run for Leavenworth Pioneers Varsity.
In the bottom of the first inning, Bonner Springs Braves Varsity tied things up at one. Bonner Springs Braves Varsity scored one run when Ashford singled.
Ashford was credited with the victory for Bonner Springs Braves Varsity. She surrendered four runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out 11.
McKenzie Brown took the loss for Leavenworth Pioneers Varsity. She went six innings, allowing five runs on nine hits, striking out eight and walking one.

Bonner Springs Braves Varsity tallied nine hits in the game. Lacey Coffman, Ashford, and Brianna Rafols all had multiple hits for Bonner Springs Braves Varsity. Coffman went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Bonner Springs Braves Varsity in hits.
