Leavenworth Pioneers Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-2 loss to Lansing on Tuesday. Lansing scored on a walk by Caroline Crawford and a walk by Brooke Gilfert in the first inning.
The Leavenworth Pioneers Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Lansing, giving up 12 runs.
Lansing got things moving in the first inning. Crawford drew a walk, scoring one run.
Lansing scored six runs in the second inning. Crawford and Lindsay Schuler each drove in runs during the inning.
Bradi Basler was credited with the victory for Lansing. She lasted five innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out eight.
McKenzie Brown took the loss for Leavenworth Pioneers Varsity. She lasted five innings, allowing ten hits and 12 runs while striking out four.
Breanna Brown, Alyssa Seichepine, and Baylee Crotzer each managed one hit to lead Leavenworth Pioneers Varsity.
Lansing tallied ten hits. Chaise Miller, Crawford, and Schuler all managed multiple hits for Lansing. Miller led Lansing with three hits in four at bats.
