Leavenworth Pioneers Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 15-0 loss to Lansing on Tuesday. Lansing scored on a home run by Bradi Basler and a home run by Caroline Crawford in the first inning.
The Leavenworth Pioneers Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Lansing, giving up 15 runs.
Lansing got things moving in the first inning, when Basler homered on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
One bright spot for Leavenworth Pioneers Varsity was a single by McKenzie Brown in the first inning.
Crawford led the Lansing to victory in the pitcher’s circle. She surrendered zero runs on three hits over five innings, striking out nine and walking one.
Kaylee McLain took the loss for Leavenworth Pioneers Varsity. She allowed seven hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out two.
Lansing tallied two home runs on the day. Basler put one out in the first inning. Crawford went yard in the first inning.
Brown led Leavenworth Pioneers Varsity with two hits in two at bats.
Lansing scattered 11 hits in the game. Shannon Jessup, Basler, and Crawford each managed multiple hits for Lansing. Jessup went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Lansing in hits. Lansing was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Chaise Miller had the most chances in the field with ten.
