Leavenworth finished the season on a high on Senior night by winning there final game 10-0 against Topeka West. Leavenworth paid respects to their senior class of Alexis Cole. Sydney Howell, Hanna Miller, Maddie Stoffle, Maja Lager, Liz LaDuron, and Margaret Collins that helped the Pioneers to their must successfully season in school history with their nine wins of the season. All Seniors started the game, and the Pioneers came out fast scoring in the 38 minutes with Senior Alexis Cole for the goal and assist from Allie Lodge. Leavenworth score in 34 minute on a PK from Sydney Howell. Then a minute later Freshman Clare Langfoss assisted Senior Alexis Cole giving her a brace on the night. Then within another minute, Leavenworth hit the back of the net again with an assist from Adri Carnoali. Finally to finish the 5 minutes of scoring the Pioneers out their 5th goal in the net with an unassisted goal from Senior Sydney Howell. It took Leavenworth 10 more minutes to get their 6th goal when Alexis Roan scored on an assist from Noelle Schubert. In the 16th minute, Alexis Cole assisted Adri Carnoali for her score on the evening. Sadie Dipman got into the action for the Pioneers with 10 minutes left in the half assisting Hannah Hawley for the 8th goal of the evening. With 5 minutes to go in the half, Kaylee Shaw made some sweet moves to get into the penalty box and was fouled and awarded a Penalty Kick. Shaw took the kick from the spot and buried it giving Leavenworth their 9th and final goal of the half. The start of the second half Leavenworth was on the attack and Topeka fouled a Leavenworth player about 40 yards out. Allie Lodge stepped up to the dead ball and played it quickly over the top of the Topeka defensive line, where Sydney Howell dropped the ball down and took the shot placing it in the corner of the net ending the game on a 10-0 mercy rule only 40 seconds into the second half. Coach Ruff said “it was a good night for us and being senior night the girls enjoyed their play together and made the most of it. These seniors are a great group of young ladies, and as a first-year coach I could not have asked for a better group to help lead this team into the new program. I will miss them all. Every varsity play, all 5 of them are going onto play in college, so I could not have asked for a better group of players to start my journey on as a coach.” Leavenworth finished their season on a 9-7 record, finished second in the new UKC league, and scored 60 goals on the season. They will play a region match next week.
