Leavenworth finished in 5th place in the 13 team Invitational on Tuesday, January 9th. The team claimed a top 6 finish in all three relays in the meet and one individual event winner. The team earned fourteen best times and finished with two more individuals earning state consideration times.
The 200 Medley Relay of Weston Marshall, Kato Fischer, Curtis Springer, and Danny Christie took 5th place in 1:50.74. Leavenworth’s 200 Freestyle Relay of Jack Schilling, Jack Roberts, Carson Fowler, and Gabe Flores took 6th place at the meet in 1:44.28. The 400 Freestyle Relay of Weston Marshall, Kato Fischer, Curtis Springer, and Danny Christie finished in a season best time of 3:36.33, lowering the team’s state qualifying time by over 4 seconds.
Individually, Danny Christie lead the Pioneers with a first and second place finish in his individual events. Christie took 1st in Danny Christie in 100 Butterfly in a personal best 52.01 and 2nd in the 200 Individual Medley in 2:01.42.
Weston Marshall, Curtis Springer, Jack Schilling, and Kato Fischer also had strong performances in their individual events for the Pioneers. Weston Marshall took 5th in the 200 Freestyle in a season best time of 2:01.33, a state consideration time and less than a second off an automatic cut. Marshall also finished in 10th in 100 Breaststroke, 1:11.52. Curtis Springer finished in 10th in 100 Butterfly in 1:04.17, another personal best time. Springer claimed 9th in the 100 Backstroke with a personal best 1:05.61, a state consideration time. Jack Schilling took 9th touching in 25.18, a season best time, in the 50 Freestyle along with Gabe Flores scoring for the team in 26.33 for 15th place.
Kato Fischer took 14th in a season best, state consideration time of 55.44 in the 100 Freestyle and a 9th place finish in 100 Breaststroke in 1:11.04.
The B 400 Freestyle Relay for Leavenworth also scored points for the team claiming 12th place. This team consisted of Gabe Flores, Julian Seeger, Jeb Marshall, and Zack Bolen.
The Pioneers are back in action at Lansing next week.
