The Leavenworth High School Boys Swim Team started the season off strong at the Lawrence Free State Invitational on Thursday, November 29th. The team won three events at the meet and qualified two relays and one individual in two events at the meet.
On the relay front, the 200 Medley Relay of Weston Marshall, Kato Fischer, Curtis Springer, and Danny Christie won the event with a state qualifying time of 1:48.07. The B Relay with Gabe Flores, Jack Roberts, Jeb Marshall, and Carson Fowler placed 7th in the event in 2:08.17. Leavenworth finished in 3rd and 11th in the 200 Freestyle Relays. The 3rd place A Relay of Flores, Fowler, Roberts, and Schilling finished in 1:49.61 and the B Relay of Castro Olivera, David Redding, Connor Engen, and Jacob Karrasch in 2:04.86. Leavenworth took 2nd in the 400 Freestyle Relay in a state qualifying time of 3:40.80. Christie, Springer, W. Marshall, and Fischer swam for the A Relay while Schilling, Seeger, Jonas Ross, and J. Marshall swam for the 11th place finishing B Relay in 4:43.50.

Danny Christie won 2 events individually. Christie swam a state qualifying best time in the 200 Individual Medley in 1:59.81. Christie also qualified for state in the 500 Freestyle in 5:05.91.

Also swimming strong for the Pioneers include Kato Fischer, Weston Marshall, Curtis Springer, and Jack Schilling who finished in the top 6 in both of their individual events. Fischer finished in 6th in the 200 Individual Medley in 2:25.39 and 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke in a best time of 1:10.60. Fischer earned a state consideration time in the event and missed an automatic time by less than a second in the event. W. Marshall placed 2nd in 100 Butterfly in a best time, 1:00.18. Marshall earned a state consideration time in the event, just 18 hundredths off a qualifying cut. Marshall trailed Fischer in the event finishing in 4th in 1:11.37, also a best time. Springer finished in 5th behind Marshall in 1:04.77 in the 100 Butterfly and 3rd in the 100 Backstroke in 1:06.39. Schilling placed 5th in the 50 Freestyle in 25.41 and 4th in the 100 Backstroke in 1:08.38.

Also placing in the top 12 and scoring for the team include Gabe Flores (2:29.94) and Carson Fowler (2:38.08) in the 200 Freestyle, in 8th and 12th, respectively.
Jeb Marshall placed 11th in the 200 Individual Medley in 2:51.42.
Jack Roberts swam a 10th place in the 50 Freestyle in 27.38, earning a best time.
Fowler finished in 8th in the 100 Freestyle in 1:04.67 with teammates Mateo Castro Olivera taking 10th in 1:05.68 and Julian Seeger in 12th in 1:07.07 in the event as well.
Flores took 9th in the 100 Backstroke in a time of 1:21.48.
Roberts also took 11th in the 100 Breaststroke in 1:24.11.
